CLEAR TO SEE CHRIS A HOY IN THE MAKING

Team Jazz member Chris Whorrall, has capped a busy couple of weeks by sprinting his way into the British National team for the Axel European Junior championships in May.

A superb sprint finish in the second National Junior road race saw Chris come in second place and confirm his place on the British team that will travel to the Netherlands in May for the first major stage race in Europe.

Says Chris “I waited for the sprint, got to the front with 50 metres to go and saved a bit back in case any one came level but no one did, it’s good to let them know who’s the fastest...”

The standard on the continent is high and Junioren Driedaagse van Axel (to give the event its full title) will be an extremely fast and competitive race – exactly the conditions that Whorrall thrives on.

Team Jazz’s Lisa Glover has overcome a pre-season of injury and uncertainty to take gold in the Javelin at the Scottish Universities Track and Field Championship.

In one of the first competitions of the season Lisa lay down a marker for the rest of the year as she threw over 40 metres with her second throw.  Lisa now moves onto the British University Championships in Bedford at the beginning of May before heading off to the Loughborough International competition.

Finally Tim Linsell had an excellent weekend out on the water at the Royal Yachting Association’s Youth nationals.  Coming in sixth and eighth in two races in adverse conditions were strong results for Tim and his sailing partner, who have only been racing together for three months.
