JAZZ AT TASTE OF LONDON

Jazz at Taste of London 2009

The weekend of the 18th-21st June saw the stars of British gastronomy congregate at Regent’s Park for the Taste of London Festival with Jazz Apples once again stealing the limelight.  Forty of the capital’s best restaurants were in attendance as well as a select group of producers and suppliers.

In a repeat of last year’s success the Jazz stand was a refreshing hit with chefs and punters alike. Crisp, tangy slices of Jazz apple were the perfect palate cleanser after rich creations such as Foie Gras Burger and Wagyu beef teriyaki. Over the four days guests crunched their way through a massive 8000 apples!

There was also the chance to win this summer’s must have kitchen accessory, a Jazz Apple slicer, in the ‘Fairground Challenge’. Gary Rhodes and Michelin starred spice master Atul Kochhar were among those contestants testing their throwing arm on the apple tree in the hope of adding the slicer to their collection of culinary gadgets.

All in all more than 1500 people had a go at the game and there was a real party atmosphere on the stand throughout the day.

Jazz are looking forward to their next event, the BBC Good Food Birmingham in November where there’ll be more fun and games and more apples with bite. They’ll also be back next year at Taste bringing the flavour to London’s foodies
