JAZZ CREATES A BUZZ AT THE CHILDREN'S FOOD FESTIVAL

To finish the Jazz Apples summer event circuit, the Jazz gang headed to the Children’s Food Festival in Oxford on the 27/28th June.

Set in the stunning location of the Northmoor Trust in Oxford, the event attracted 14,000 food loving parents and kids for a fun packed weekend with the aim of igniting kid’s interest in food.

More than 20 top chefs and cookery writers – including Patrons Raymond Blanc and Sophie Grigson – gave talks and hands-on demos with TV’s Stefan Gates doing his best to get children to eat fried grasshoppers.

Over on the Jazz stand, it didn’t take much to get the kids to try the delicious Jazz Apples though, as over 3000 apples were devoured over the two day event.  With 750 Jazz apple slicers being won, over a thousand recipes cards being given out and with kids queuing up for a chance to win a tent on the Jazz Apple Fairground challenge – the Jazz stand was certainly where the party was at.

Jazz Apple’s Commercial Manager Gary Harrison said,

“The Children’s Food Festival was a great event for Jazz Apples to be part of.  It was a brilliant opportunity for us to get the kids, who are the real decision makers in the family when it comes to apples, to try Jazz.  The fairground challenge worked brilliantly in attracting the kids and competitive dads alike and I’m sure I saw some future England cricketers chancing their arms.  Who needs Flintoff!”
Amongst the other original offerings were: The Vegetable Orchestra, the Pizza Midwife, the Eat a Rainbow Every Day drama and a chance for children to be filmed by the BBC as pretend celebrity chefs.

Film actress Greta Scacchi, BBC Radio 4’s Food Programme’s Sheila Dillon and a group of teenagers also took part in a lively debate about whether celebrities should promote junk food.

Jazz’s next event will be the BBC Good Food Show in Birmingham this coming November so check the website out nearer the time to find out what’s happening.
