In the Team Jazz Spotlight: Harry Turner
To remind all you Jazz nuts out there Harrison James Turner, better known as Harry to his friends, is our resident Team Jazz basketball superstar. Harry, now 20, started playing basketball in his free time with his friends when he was just 12.
Harry gave us an update on his progress recently and we wanted to share his most recent escapades with you all. In 2008 Harry became an original Team Jazz member and has since earned 37 caps for England as part of the U16 and U18 squads. Harry’s talents have even landed him a full scholarship at Millfield School in Somerset following his basketball and GCSE successes.
While continuing to study for his A-levels, he is also busy with his University applications where he is keen to keep his academic achievements up to the same standard as his basketball ones. At the moment, he plays in the Men’s National League and is currently the top scorer of his team, even though he is considered a junior player.
Harry’s ultimate aim is to make it into Team GB U20’s and hopefully represent his country at the Olympics! We wish him all the best for his career and we hope to one day see Harry playing in the NBA, and smash all of his idol, Michael Jordan’s, records!
